Ahhh. What happened to your ignore button?? You just can help yourself. I know we have one girl playing softball at UVA and another going to Maryland and North Carolina. I’m unsure of the exact numbers if where graduates go but I can try to find out for you. I’m sure we have graduates at a lot of various universities.
I’m sorry if you don’t like to topics but I’m just responding. I know your wheels are falling off the “bus”, but wait until the next topic.
So UVa to play a sport, which you've been on some strange tirade about, and one at UNC. So your amazing academics off the top of your head have sent two students to public ivy's (Maryland is not a top public).
Wheels falling off? What are you talking about? This past month you've started thread after thread attacking Ironton, AD's, sports in general, facilities, and going on a rant about schools and academics over athletics, on a sports forum. I know you're unable to see the irony in all of your posts, but a rational person would take a step back and ask themselves what exactly are you trying to accomplish? No one is engaging with you because they agree, they're engaging because you're clogging up the board with non-sense.
As to where what kid is attending a university, I’ll leave that up to the parents to disclose that. Just know that we send more than our fair share to universities on academic scholarships. I don’t feel the need to prove anything to you. As you told me before, you was going to ignore my post but here we are once again. You just can’t help yourself.
You say time after time that I am attacking one school and that isn’t true. We have had some discussions about hot topics. I am sure many of the topics related to schools around you in “Cincinnati”.
Yeah, we have had discussion about academics because a kid can’t play sports without the grades. They can’t attend a university without the grades. There are certain requirements that must be met. There are also certain requirements to graduate. It doesn’t matter how good you are in sports if you don’t have the grades. You must be able to become a working tax paying citizen after you complete high school which has nothing to do with playing a sport. The Pleasant kid is an exception since he is playing in the NFL. How many others can you name??
I think it is great to defend your “family’s” interest but at the end of the day it is all about the kids and their education.
Also: southeastohio as a whole including Wheelersburg SUCK academically. Everytime i hear a wheelersburg fan start the superior academic soapbox I just laugh. These Northern Virginia kids where I have lived in Fairfax & Loudon county Virginia would make wheelersburg look like academic rodents.
Theyd be fallin and floppin on the ground like ya football team when ya play Ironton or Prep.
Re: Impressive
I would have full confidence that our ACT/SAT scores would match and probably meet those of your Northern Virginia kids. Nobody here in the Burg is falling and flopping on anything. I would discourage you from putting Ironton and Prep in the same category, because Prep is a very disrespectful team. Ironton has much more class and discipline than Prep.798924 wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 8:32 amIf it has nothing to do with sports, why are you talking about it in a sports forum?BurgFan43 wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 8:53 pmBelieve it or not, we have some athletes that fit in that 2% that are provided with a D1 college scholarship. I also agree, Wheelersburg compared to metro- Cincy schools dwarf their academic achievement based on a state report card. We have kids going to MIT, Harvard, Yale, Michigan, UVa, Duke and Stanford yearly. The superior academic achievement comments are relative and subjective if you actually compare them to schools state wide. Cool, Wheelersburg is outdoing Rock Hill, no one cares.

Can only speak for myself: finished 25th in class of 108 at Burg so not the greatest. Had no troubles in undergrad or grad school; Burg schools prepared me well. And now doing far better professionally than the vast majority you mention in the Cincinnati metro area. But I’m not nearly the exception in my class at Burg. Numerous others have done extremely well in medicine, finance, business, athletics, etc leaving their mark all over the country.
Not bad from a town of 6,000 and a class size of 108.

There are no great numbers of academic overachievers in southern ohio. There are outliers/exceptions, but its not common. Seo struggles mightily on a state and national basis academically just like they struggle financially and health related. This guy is reaching for whatever because Ironton 92 burg 7. Lol

You clearly read that wrong. Finishing 25th out of 108 is not impressive at all. I wasn’t a big fish in the mud hole. But that mud hole taught me very well resulting in my success in the big ocean. As for this being uncommon and an exception, you may be referring to your high school but you are clearly unaware of the success Burg students have had outside the mud hole. The list is extensive and extremely impressive: doctors, lawyers, engineers, pharmacists, banking, management, etc. and I’m just referring to my class of 108.
Re: Impressive
You again? For how successful and intelligent you claim to be you can't seem to apply the logic in any instance. Saying a school is a 4.5 star school really means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Is a 4.5 in SEO the same as a 4.5 in Cincy metro? That's the point.RBH23 wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 2:13 pmComparing Wheelersburg (town of 6,000) to Cincinnati metro with a population of $2.3MM? LOL!!avalanche wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 11:35 amRight?
You're doing better off than the vast number of grads who have gone to Ivy and public Ivy based on the quantitative data I am sure you have to support your claim. We are all so proud of you.
Such a strange claim to make on a sports forum. I am doing better than the top 1% of Cincy metro in life because I said so. That can be measured I am sure. Cool story man. We are all very impressed.
Re: Impressive
Judging by the average income in wheelersburg, the population & the average education, those exceptions must have got the heck outta wheelersburg. LololRBH23 wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 3:55 pmYou clearly read that wrong. Finishing 25th out of 108 is not impressive at all. I wasn’t a big fish in the mud hole. But that mud hole taught me very well resulting in my success in the big ocean. Have done very well since leaving the mud hole with credit going to the teachers and coaches in said mud hole helping me prepare for the bigger waters.798924 wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 2:51 pm"Class of 108" =RBH23 wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 2:13 pm
Comparing Wheelersburg (town of 6,000) to Cincinnati metro with a population of $2.3MM? LOL!!

In northern va its mostly not a question of if succesfull. Its just a matter of when and where they choose to take their talents. Also most parents here have the financial ability where the sky is the limit for our kids options. They just have to make a choice.RBH23 wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 3:55 pmYou clearly read that wrong.
